The importance of Chess Tournaments

Winning games in the classroom or at a friend’s house is fun, but when one wins a tournament game it is memorable and invigorating. In-person tournaments offer the thrill of playing in chess tournaments alongside many children who love chess with the passion that they share. Also, in my classes and camps, we love to have virtual chess tournaments. It's the highlight of the sessions.

Playing in chess tournaments is not only exhilarating, but it also offers many lifelong skills and benefits such as:

  • Develops perspective

  • Improves memory

  • Deepens focus

  • Elevates creativity

  • Boosts planning skills

  • Increases self-awareness

  • Teaches kids how to win and lose

  • Helps children realize the consequences of their actions

  • Builds confidence

  • Develops problem-solving skills

  • Exercises the brain

  • Chess helps kids learn to remain calm under pressure

I list upcoming local tournaments on this site at https://www.arborchess.com/tournaments.

Please take a look at these sights and attend a virtual or in-person tournament this year! If you need any help or have any questions, simply contact me.
